Advanced Medical Aesthetics Procedure

Natural womanAdvanced medical aesthetic procedures (AMAP) are treatments, which use electrolysis to treat a wide variety of skin blemishes.

Affected areas can be quickly and easily treated, often with immediate and effective results, leaving blemish free, smooth skin.

Treatable Skin Blemishes

These are permanently dilated capillaries. They have very thin walls, which constantly dilate and constrict. As we age, these vessels lose their elasticity and can become permanently dilated.

There can be numerous causes including: ageing, sun-damage, hereditary, pregnancy, trauma e.g. the rubbing of spectacles and smoking. Energetic sports, temperature extremes, harsh water exposure, hormones and skin fragility are also common causes. They are often seen in a ‘English rose’ complexion.

Often dome shaped, these are bright red, superficial vascular blemishes shaped or slightly raised, they are frequently found on the midriff. Most people aged over 30 have at least one, they are often more common in men than they are in women.

A Spider Naevus is a central dilated blood vessel, with smaller capillaries radiating from it like the legs of a spider. They can be found in isolation or gathered together in clumps on areas such as the cheeks.

Skin Tags are very common and most frequently found on the neck and face. They can appear with a neck like a mushroom and vary in size from a tiny speck, smaller than a grain of uncooked rice, to the size of a large pea or even larger. They are often found in areas of friction such as the underarm, groin, under the breasts or around the neck where necklaces may irritate.

These are tiny, white, hard, round spots containing keratin, which lie superficially under the surface of the skin. Their exact cause is unknown, although they are often associated with dry, dehydrated skin.

There are various types of warts including plain, common, filiform and verrucas, and all can be easily and successfully treated using electrolysis. These type of warts can develop individually or in clusters and are highly contagious.

Although these are classified as part of the wart family they are not contagious and very common on the head, face and body. Associated with increasing age, mature skins and sun damage they also have genetic links. Growing up to 2 inches across, they are often dry, crusty and considered unattractive.

Is a common disorder, which develops in adolescence on black skin and is identified by smooth, dome shaped, brown to black papules seen mainly on the cheeks, neck and upper chest.

Hairs from moles can be treated by those trained in AMAP techniques. Once treatment has started the mole may reduce in size & colour. Hairs in moles are generally deep terminal hairs with a very rich blood supply. Repeat treatments, as with electrical epilation are required. Moles respond extremely well to electrolysis, and treatment is very effective, visibly reducing the size and often lightening the colour of the mole.

Care and Support

Allow us to care and support you in a practical sense by removing any unsightly skin blemishes that may have affected your confidence and wellbeing recently, or throughout your life.

As far back as the early 900’s electrolysis was being used for the treatment of port-wine marks, broken capillaries, spider naevi, warts and even xanthoma (yellow pigmented spots or plates found on the eyelids).

Today it has progressed a long way, and with ongoing improvements and modern technology it is a safe, comfortable and effective treatment, very much in demand.

Probably the least invasive, minimal and most effective method of treatment for a wide variety of blemishes, electrolysis has got to be the most sensible and safe choice. Results are often instantaneous, pleasing and life enhancing.

FAQs

How long is a treatment and how many will I require?

Advanced medical aesthetic procedures are a safe method of treatment, and in many cases offer instantaneous results. The length of treatment is very much dependent on the problem. Your electrolysis specialist will advise you of the expected treatment time at your initial consultation.

The area must not be over-treated and your skin reactivity will be taken into account.  Devising a treatment plan, your electrolysis professional with carefully consider the spacing technique and treatment intervals, as well as your expectations, needs and wishes.

How are Thread Veins treated?

The tip of the finest, smallest probe possible (about the size of an eyelash) is introduced along the line of the capillary and high frequency energy is discharged. This ‘dries up’ and destroys the vessel, which often disappears as it is being treated. Further treatments may be necessary depending on the severity of the problem.

Will my Blemishes return?

The treated blemish should not return but others may occur depending on the root cause. Your electrolysis specialist will advise you during the consultation.

Mixing electrolysis methods

The method chosen is a decision the electrolysis specialist will make, and it will be determined by the blemish(es), condition of the skin, patient compatibility and equipment.
