Morris Minor Rebuilds

Here at Charles Ware's Morris Minor Centre we have the skills and experience to rebuild a Morris Minor to your specification. From its body colour to the size of it's engine the choice is yours. There are many upgrades available from our Series III range which is why we give a basic starting price with headroom for many additions. 

The rebuild pulls together all of the restoration processes and skills that you can read about in the rest of the site.

We start by rebuilding the chassis, removing all areas where there is a chance of rust, replacing panels, cross members, chassis legs etc. It is then rust protected with a generous oil spray and coat of underseal.

Morris Minor RebuildsMechanically the engine is overhauled and can be upgraded to the 1275cc version. A 5-speed gearbox can be added to go along side this or to take the strain off the 1098cc 'A' block engine. Disc brakes and Servos are added depending on the buyers preferences. Suspension upgrades and handling kits are also optional. A new wiring loom is fitted along with an alternator allowing further electronic upgrades such as heated windows, halogen headlights, fog lights, phone/sat-nav charger and other treats.

When we get to the bodywork we will always replace the wings and rebuild the doors, bonnets and boots then respray it in a colour of your choice. The chrome is replace with either new or A1 original chrome.

From the engine bay to the dash everything looks like new. The colours available range from the traditional BMC range to custom colours. 

To match your newly painted Morris Minor we have a wide range of trim options. Again these can be traditional seat styles or else one of our Series III upgrades with head rests. In traditional vinyl or luxurious leather this brings a comfort and style to your 40 year old 'new' car. 

As one customer pointed out "they never came out of the factory this good in the first place"

One may ask "Why do they seem so expensive?" The reality is that the youngest Morris Minor is now over 40 years old and the time it takes to bring one up to the standard expected can sometimes be as much as 500 hours of workshop labour. These cars once finished however are show winners and often unique. They turn heads and taking into account the durable nature of the car could last another 40 years with the correct maintenance.

STANDARD REBUILT TRAVELLER

These vehicles have a fully rebuilt chassis which is rust-protected and undersealed. They have new body panels and new chrome fitted. The vehicles are fully repainted on the exterior and interior including a repainted and detailed engine bay. A new timber ash frame and finished in Danish oil. A fully reconditioned 1098 unleaded engine and rebuilt gearbox are fitted together with a new wiring loom, new braking system, rebuilt front and rear suspension, new radial tyres and a complete new interior trim including headlining and carpets. All the ancilliaries are commensurate with a new vehicle.

The result is a superb, rebuilt Traveller in stunning condition. These are special orders where you can choose the colour of the exterior and the interior. These are offered on a limited basis with a 6-8 month lead time.

We are finding that buying the right vehicle to rebuild is becoming more and more difficult and because of the rising price of the donor vehicle and also the increasing costs of labour, parts, paints and materials we reluctantly have to increase the sales price. We also have to consider forward pricing. The next rebuild we will be able to do will be eight months in the future and future costs have to be anticipated.

STANDARD, FULLY REBUILT REPLICA CONVERTIBLE IN THE COLOUR OF YOUR CHOICE

On a limited basis with a six month lead time, we are able to provide an as new standard, rebuilt replica convertible. This would have a fully rebuilt chassis, strengthened as necessary and fully rust-protected, new body panels and chrome, fully repainted interior and exterior and fully detailed engine bay. A reconditioned, unleaded 1098 engine and reconditioned gear-box would be fitted together with a new wiring loom, new braking system and fully overhauled front and rear suspension. New radial tyres are also be fitted and the ancillaries will all be commensurate with a new vehicle.

A new interior trim is also fitted together with a new hood and hood frame and new carpets.

We are finding that buying the right vehicle to rebuild is becoming more and more difficult and because of the rising price of the donor vehicle and also the increasing costs of labour, parts, paints and materials we reluctantly have to increase the sales price. We also have to consider forward pricing. The next rebuild we will be able to do will be eight months in the future and future costs have to be anticipated.

A FULLY REBUILT 2-DOOR SALOON - VARIOUS COLOURS

On a limited basis with a lead time of approximately six months, we are able to provide an as-new standard, rebuilt 2-door saloon.

This would have a fully rebuilt chassis, fully rust-protected, new body panels and chrome, fully repainted interior and exterior and fully detailed engine bay. A reconditioned, unleaded 1098 engine and reconditioned gear-box would be fitted together with a new wiring loom, new braking system and fully overhauled front and rear suspension. New radial tyres are also be fitted and the ancillaries will all be commensurate with a new vehicle.
