Description
What is Decoupage?
It is the art of decorating an object by gluing on to it coloured patterned paper, fabric or napkins in combination with special paint effects, gold leaf and other decorative elements. I use any type of paper such as napkin designs and Japanese rice paper, finished with a quality varnish/sealant to give a smooth and satiny finish.
Preparation requires sanding and priming with paint, coordinated to the colour of the paper to be used. It can take many days and even weeks to decoupage just one item, because the varnish (and paint) needs thorough drying between each coat, and in some cases there are many, many layers of varnish…to successfully create this art you need plenty of patience and attention to detail!
