These are octopus wood wall hangings, made by me from high quality beech hardwood plywood with a pyrography (wood burning) design burned in. I add a light blue-green stain to highlight a few areas, and give them a protective lacquer coating. They are approx 10 1/2 in between widest points and 8 1/4 in tallwith a loop on the back for hanging. The wood is 6-9mm thick depending on my stock. One of the photos shows the wall hanging with a hen’s egg for scale.

Each is signed and dated. I can add a personalised message on the back – if you’d like that, just leave a note at checkout detailing the message.

IMPORTANT: If you are thinking of putting this in a bathroom, be aware that although the lacquer is outdoor grade and water resistant I can’t guarantee it would be fine in a bathroom – humidity can cause plywood to delaminate or crack sometimes if it is wet for long periods, so if your bathroom has a lot of condensation for long periods it would be best to place this in another room. If it is put in a bathroom, it would be a good idea to inspect it now and then to look for signs of delamination or cracking, and move it to a less humid room if that were the case.

I usually take up to two weeks to complete one but at exceptionally busy times this may be a day or two longer (I would contact you if this were likely to be the case). Also, tracking for shipping is not provided with standard shipping – here in the UK tracking is not standard and adds significantly to the cost of shipping. Please display pyrography away from bright sunlight, which can cause fading.
