Leather handmade glasses case

Handmade leather glasses case that fits spectacles or sunglasses.

PROCESS:
The entire piece is built by hand from my workshop, no machines are used at any stage.
The leather is measured and cut in order to incorporate the natural markings of the hide – you may see scars, or fat ripples from the animal – the beauty of leather!
Finally the raw edges are bevelled and burnished using beeswax to form smooth strong edges that will wear naturally over time.

PERSONALISATION:
At the checkout, please let me know if you’d like your name or initials stamped onto the item, free of charge! Each letter measures roughly 5mm x 8mm and are only available in CAPS, a maximum of 5 letters.
These will be placed on the front, unless otherwise requested.

What is Veg Tan Leather?

Vegetable Tanned Leather is the preferred material for many leather workers because, despite the increased cost to buy, it is a beautiful material to work with. Only natural materials such as fruits, leaves, and husks are used to dye the leather, after which, each hide is hung for several weeks. This is compared to the globally dominant method of Chromium tanning, which reduces the process to a mere few days. Whilst certainly time-effective, it is important to me to try to avoid using chrome-tanned leather as the vast use of acidic chemicals in this process is very harmful to the environment, our waterways and oceans. These are things I strongly feel we need to protect, now more than ever.
